Deck Care Maintenance (before the winter months)...

Most of us, that have decks, have enjoyed them copiously during these beautiful summer months! We also would like to enjoy these same decks in the years to come. Recently I realized that the side of my friend’s deck was rotting in one small space close to the house. Without this realization this deck could have been ruined by the beginning of next summer. So what can you do to in order for this to not happen?

Here are a few tips for year round maintenance;

1. Check for damaged boards - once a year
2. Check structural supports for signs of insect or animal damage - twice a year
3. Check for popped nails, loose screws, and bolts on decks - once a year
4. Clean your deck thoroughly - once a year
5. Re-seal or re-stain your deck - once a year
