1. Mow the Lawn Regularly -
Everyone knows how important it is to keep you lawn cut but most don't know that different types of grass need to by cut at different heights. It's also important that you don't cut more than the top third of the blade in one cutting.
2. Edge the Sidewalks and Driveways -
To make your yard have that finished appearance it is important to edge your driveway and sidewalks. You can do this with a string trimmer or a gas-powered or electric-powered edger.
3. Trim Overgrown Bushes and Hedges -
The spring is a good time to trim back those overgrown bushes and shrubs. It is important not to trim them back too much but enough to get rid of damaged branches and promote new growth.
4. Clean Up and Prepare Flowerbeds -
It is important to clean out all flowerbeds and remove all the dead growth from the year before and turn the soil with a shovel to loosen it for planting. It is also important to pull all weeds and grasses and remove as much of their roots as possible. This will ensure a good flower bed for planting.
5. Start Planting -
Once you purchase your plants place them in the bed inside their containers in the design before planting them. It is important that you get them in the ground as soon after purchasing as possible.
6. Mulch Flowerbeds -
By using mulch you help control weeds, keep the soil moist, and keep ground temperatures cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
7. Water, Water, Water -
It is important not to waste all the time and effort spent planting by not watering properly. Look at the plant instructions and adjust watering accordingly.
